Things to Consider Before Switching Energy Supplier
Switching energy supplier can save you hundreds of pounds each year. Here are some things to consider if you’re thinking of switching.
What is my Current Energy Tariff?
First of all you should check the details of your existing energy contract. Here are some key things to look out for:
- Exit Fees – Will you be charged an ‘exit fee’ for leaving the contract? You will find details of any exit fees on your current energy bill, or alternatively you can contact your energy supplier and they will be able to tell you.
- Do I have any outstanding debt on my existing energy account? If so when you decide to switch, you existing energy supplier will require you to pay this off before they will process the switch. Alternatively you might have credit on your account, in which case this will be refunded to you if you switch.
- Can my current energy supplier offer me an alternative tariff that will allow me to save money?
