Welcome to the Renewable Energy Centre

There are many types of renewable energy technology available to help reduce reliance on fossil fuels. Read on to find out more about technologies including Solar Panels, Biomass Heating Systems and low energy LED lighting products.

Solar Panels & FIT’s

Solar Photovoltaic (PV) is a great way to produce your own electricity and reduce the amount that you spend on your electricity bill.

Key Features

  • Generate electricity for your own home.
  • Receive government Feed in Tariff payments.

Biomass Boilers & Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI)

Biomass heating uses renewable wood fuel sources to heat your home. Biomass is also supported by the governments Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) meaning that you may be eligible for a financial incentive by using this technology.

Key Features

  • Generate heat from carbon neutral renewable fuel.
  • Receive government RHI payment.

LED Lighting

We know they’re not ‘renewable energy’, but LED light bulbs use 80-90% less energy than halogen and incandescent lamps. This is a huge reduction and can add up to some big savings.

Key Features

  • Reduce energy usage by up to 90%.
  • 90% savings on home lighting costs.

There are a variety of funding streams and grants available for some renewable energy technologies. Where funding is available, we discuss this in more details in the sections above.

To check eligibility for energy grants and ways to improve your energy efficiency, visit the Government Energy Grants Calculator here. This will tell you if you are entitled to any funding or grants that are available to improve your homes energy efficiency, or if you are entitled to help paying your energy bills.

The UK is aiming to provide from renewable sources by 2020.
