Who are Fairer Power?
Fairer Power was launched in 2015 and is run by Cheshire East Council, operating in parnership with Ovo Energy. Cheshire East Council are responsible for tariff rates and marketing, whilst Ovo Energy provide billing and energy purchasing expertise and also take are of Customer Service.
Fairer Power operate locally across the Cheshire East region to offer lower tariffs to local households. The core purpose is to help tackle fuel poverty however the tariffs are open to anyone within the region. Fairer Power tariffs aim to be simple and as such offer a fixed 12 month term in which prices for your supply do not change. There are also no exit fees should you choose to switch provide at a later date, whilst the group also pays 3% interest as a reward on balances that are in credit. It is emphasised that Fairer Power is not a ‘Collective Switching’ scheme. Collective Swtiching initiatives have recently gained widespread use and operate by negotiating group deals on behalf of a group of consumers at a fixed point in time.
